Yangzhou University (YZU) is co-sponsored by the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province and the Ministry of Education, a key comprehensive university of Jiangsu Province, as well as one of the first among colleges and universities authorized to grant master and doctoral degrees, pioneering in China in the merging of higher educational institutions. YZU was established in 1992 as a merger of 6 colleges in Yangzhou, while the history of YZU can be traced back to as early as 1902, when Mr. Zhang Jian, a renowned modern entrepreneur and educator, set up the Tongzhou Private Teachers’ School and Tonghai Agricultural School.

Jiangsu University was founded by combining the former Jiangsu University of Science and Technology (a key university), Zhenjiang Medical College and Zhenjiang Teachers’ College with the approval of the Ministry of Education of China in August, 2001. It is a teaching-and-research-oriented comprehensive university, strong in engineering disciplines. Dalian Medical University (DMU) was founded in 1947, originally known as Guandong Medical College. In 1949, it joined with Dalian University and the name was changed into the Medical College of Dalian University. It is founded in Shanghai in 1896 as the Nanyang Public College, Xi'an Jiaotong University is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in China. Tongji University (TONGJI), founded in 1907 is directly under the MOE and listed as a key university in "211 Project" and "985 Project". It is honored as the cradle of scientists, entrepreneurs, medical experts and engineers, enjoying the reputation of "North Tsinghua, South Tongji".

Established as a medical school by a German doctor, Tongji University has developed into a leading comprehensive university and maintains close contact with Germany and European countries especially in medicine teaching and research. The university is situated in Shanghai, composed of 4 campuses occupying 635 acres and registers over 50,000 students, including 19,800 undergraduates and 3,000 international students.

With a history of over 100 years, medicine is the first discipline in Tongji University. Currently, the Medical School owns a college of basic medical science, a college of preventive medicine (to be constructed) and five affiliated hospitals. It also has the "WHO Prenatal Care Cooperation Center", 2 municipal key disciplines, 3 municipal key specialties, 2 clinical medicine centers, prenatal diagnosis center, premature care center and the tuberculosis (lung) key laboratory of Shanghai.

Fudan University (FUDAN), located in Shanghai, is one of the oldest and most selective universities in China. It was founded in 1905 in Shanghai. While the former Shanghai Medical University, established in 1927 was the first medical institute started by Chinese. Called as "The university with the most democratic ideas and aristocratic temperament in China", Fudan is a national key university under the control of MOE and member of the "985 Project" and "211 Project". It enjoys an international reputation, ranking among the 100 top universities in the world. The university now has 4 campuses, occupying 603.7 acres. It consists of 28 schools and departments and 10 affiliated hospitals. The enrollment of full-time degree candidates is 26,362, including 3,633 foreign students. Located to the east of the prosperous region in Shanghai-Xujiahui, the Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University has a long history and excellent study atmosphere.
